What’s one habit that has improved your life the most?
Daily Writing Prompt – 2819
At 15, I proudly stepped through the doors of a Kraków high school. It was the absolute golden age for a teenager. At the Hala Targowa market, we’d buy bootleg cassette tapes, combat boots, and backpack patches, a new wave of Polish rock ruled the radio, and saturdays were reserved for trips to the Computer Fair to grab new Amiga floppy disks. We battered heavy mountain bikes on the Kraków curbs, and with no smartphones or GPS, our time was spent skipping class and roaming places that are packed with tourists today, but back then belonged only to us.
It was exactly during that time, as an act of ultimate rebellion and a manifestation of adulthood, that the habit which improved my life was born: drinking coffee.
Back then, this rite of passage consisted of sipping atrocious, sludge-filled coffee in a gloomy café just to look mature in front of my crew. Little did I know that this youthful flexing would transform thirty years later into my daily, indispensable foundation for productivity and balance. Today, as an adult, I know that coffee wasn’t just a teenage whim. It was a long-term investment. Without it, my system doesn’t boot up at all.
